The Judd Foundation alleges Kim Kardashian is guilty of passing off knockoff Judd furniture as the real thing in a promotional YouTube video for her skincare brand. I would love to know how the Judd Foundation learned about the video.
Reminds me of when David Zwirner went on the record to denounce a fake Ruth Asawa sculpture that Gwyneth Paltrow had.
David Velasco on being fired from Artforum. Besides the article's main point, what stood out was the economic conditions of Velasco and other Artforum editors. Velasco notes he’s couch surfing since he’s had to sublet his apartment at a loss. Kate Sutton, who quit in solidarity, notes she’s starting to panic (financially). This is an apt reminder that art writing is a precarious pay-cheque-to-pay-cheque gig. Also, Artforum used to pay me $50 for a review.
RIP to Richard Serra. It’s been nice to read what he meant to people. The nature of his sculptures is that to stand within or beside them is to have a personal experience with them.
No men allowed! A museum in Australia has an art installation by Kirsha Kaechele titled Ladies Lounge that only women are allowed to enter. One man did not like that at all and is now suing. I thought this would be a click-bait story, but I found it quite interesting. Kaechele responds, saying that you are still experiencing the art by not entering—the exclusion is the point. It got me thinking about what it means to participate in art.
Yale Open Studios will take place April 13-14—collectors’ favourite place to get art before it goes 🚀🚀🚀. Register here. If you go, make sure to try Tibetan Kitchen. I went when I was in New Haven last year and it was one of my top meals of 2023.

AGO is on strike, which is adding more reputational damage to the institution. I drove by yesterday and noticed that while many signs mentioned pay, quite a few also mentioned censorship.

When you said MOCA, I was hoping it’d be in Los Angeles! I would have loved to join that tour ;)
