• Lots of art fair news this week! Kyla McMillan is the new director at Armory—coming from David Zwirner, Gavin Brown’s Enterprise, and her project Saint George Projects. An expanded selection at Art Basel Miami was also announced, the first iteration led by new director Bridget Finn.

• Vandals Target Shahzia Sikander Sculpture Honoring Women’s Rights. There’s nothing else to say about this except it’s reprehensible and incredibly sad.

• Bad news for art grads. “Art History, Visual and Performing Arts and Graphic Design majors are associated with the highest rates of unemployment in the US.” My note on this: employment≠value.

• Art is everywhere if you look for it!

• A man wore a “You wouldn’t download an ancient artifact” t-shirt to the British Museum, and the corresponding TikTok is perfect.

I’m getting married this weekend. Some of you have seen the progression of Keiran and my relationship in real time. I curated his work in the first (Canadian) Art Forecast group show in 2019, and our relationship grew from there.

Not only did art connect us, but it’s been a throughline in our relationship: I write about Keiran’s art, we travel to see art together, and art from our friends hangs on every wall of our apartment.

I know the importance of art because it’s the foundation of my life—it introduced me to the love of my life and continues to enrich our lives every day. Most of my friends are artists, and their art has given me more insight into understanding them and how they think. Art has also connected me with all of the people reading this. I don’t think I can express how much that means to me.

I love art because I’ve experienced its power to connect firsthand.

I will most likely take next week off, though I will try to send a paid newsletter! I’ll share wedding photos on my personal Instagram xx.
