The impulse to review something like the Sistine Chapel or the Louvre has a unique charm. Reviews often reference the ungraspable feeling of being in front of great art— “words can’t do it justice,” “breathtaking,” or “once in a lifetime.” Sometimes, they complain about long wait times and ticket prices. There is a fundamental desire inherent in art to share it.
Today’s letter is a collection of photographs found on Yelp, TripAdvisor, or Google Reviews of famous art museums and sites around the world. I scrolled through thousands of the same image from slightly different angles and image qualities. Every once in a while, a photo would stand out. An odd perspective, sense of humour, or unusual detail. These photos allow us to see how other people view art and, in turn, teach us how to look in unexpected ways.
There is so much beauty in the world; I hope we can all find it.
looking at these collection of pics made me smile big. thank you.
Very cool idea. Thank you for sharing these photos which offer a different perspective to the “perfect” or “standard” pictures people expect to see
